Brief:
This example demonstrates how you can add a successful and feature-laden community based platform to your website. Message boards (or forums as they are sometimes known) are a great way to improve and build on existing communities, getting people together and increasing communication, ideal perhaps for a social group or sports club.
This particular message board is a personal website and provides a modern, friendly and fun community fans, dedicated to Chris Carter's Millennium TV series. Millennium was Carter's second series after the highly successful paranormal show, The X-Files. This is who we are takes its name from a security pass phrase of the same which appeared in the TV series, and is shortened to TIWWA.
The community message board has flourished since its conception when I approached the best Millennium website masters and owners across the world with a view to launching the community. The message board has been a huge success and attracts new members every day. We have a successful team of Staff and some wonderful community members. TIWWA has proved reliable, professional and very popular. We even have some ex-cast members who have even kindly provided exclusive interviews.
Currently in its fourth incarnation, the forums run on the impressive Invision Power Board. Also included are add-on facilities such as integrated Gallery and Community Blogs, where every member can create and run their own website blog accessible to anyone on the Internet on whatever they like such as hobbies, interests, books, lifestyle and movies etc.
I've also included a cool Google powered Member Map, custom written to plot member's locations on a fully zoomable and scrollable map with satellite imagery. This has proved popular with forum members who choose to appear on it and join in the fun, seeing where fellow members and friends are based across the earth!
