Millennium-This is who we are
Status: Completed
Client: Personal website
URL: http://millennium-thisiswhoweare.net
Brief:
This is a huge (8000+ pages) dynamic fan-website on the subject of Chris Carter's Millennium TV series, was built in Dreamweaver using a mixture of CSS based XHTML and PHP and powered by 2 separate backend mySQL databases.
Accessibility and web standards compliance were key pre-requisites and considerations from the beginning of the project. It features a custom designed CMS (content management system) using one database to store and access news and page content. The website uses Chron tasks to run PHP scripts which populate and update its latest news and latest download RSS feeds every 15 minutes.
The second database stores a complete episode guide numbering over 2000 unique pages including episode, cast, crew and character profiles, episode and series information, trivia, listings and background references. The episode guide also includes episode reviews, articles and trivia contributed by myself and fans of the TV series.
The website features the use of Flash Video to display video files quickly and easily, without the need for third party codecs as 98% of Internet users have Flash installed in their browser. Pages in the episode and credits guide use an AJAX powered voting facility which allows visitors to rate episodes without having to reload the page. It also features the use of an AJAX powered Lightbox to display images in a slideshow. The site also includes downloads, wallpapers, screen savers and other multimedia downloads.
This is a personal website, currently my finest and largest work to date which has been constructed in my personal time with additional input from my friend Libby, to replace an ageing existing website.

"Keep up the great work on the website. I've found it a valuable resource to augment the veiwing of my 3-season DVD collection, with answers to questions I long had about such things as the music and locations."
